Update 4-24-09
Dear friends and family -
Hope you are all enjoying good weather. It was 80 degrees today in Chicago, and I actually took a personal day from work to sort out some financial things and have taken the dog for about 6 walks today. It feels good, almost too hot! Hopefully the nice weather will last - though I suspect we're in for some rain.
While financially the world sucks right now and I'm quite dismayed by my financial situation, at least I'm trying to sort it out, and at least I have a job. Credit card companies are willing to make a few concessions here and there and all the hospital/medical bills that have been piling up are at least willing to do payment plans. I just wish things looked better....it seems I can never get caught up....it's hard to be positive about that. Tonight is an injection night, so I don't have a good night to look forward to, but at least I got all the crappy things done that had to be done today....
My MRI results came back, and it looks like there is some improvement in my "lesion load" - that is, the number of places in my brain that are under attack by my immune system. There aren't any new lesions, and the ones that were lit up like a Christmas tree in November are fading into healing or into scars. So that's good news. It's good to have some good news that at least the medication is holding off the immune attacks, which is what it is supposed to do - delay the onset of attacks. Now I hope that I start feeling better and that the side effects improve for a while....
Steve has been driving all around Iowa and Minnesota doing inspections, and he is having dinner tonight with his brother Norm somewhere north of Minneapolis. We are both looking forward to his first paycheck at the beginning of May!
Just watched the movie "3:10 to Yuma" and highly recommend it if you haven't seen it. Also went and saw the movie "Sunshine Cleaners" before my MRI last weekend - I recommend that too, if you like indie movies. It has a happy ending, in case you're wondering. But it'd probably be a better rental.
I have been spending a lot of time coloring in this sort of grown-up coloring book called "Soothing Shapes and Landscapes". I haven't been able to find any more grownup coloring books in bookstores, but think I'll have better luck online. If you ever get stressed, it is seriously therapeutic to go through a coloring book. There's no frustration over a lack of artistic talent - the things are already drawn - you just fill in the blanks....so far that's proven to be really awesome art therapy!
Not much else is new...just going to try to relax tonight...miss you all....lots of love,Kate
