Quick update 3-2-09
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to thank you all for your birthday wishes and cards and emails and texts and phone calls! I had a wonderful birthday - surrounded by friends and love....
Steve and I went to Grand Rapids on Friday night to see the Wallace-Christian-Pulera family band, the Cover Hogs, starring Amber (Wallace) Christian on piano, vocals, and tambourine, Angie Wallace on guitar, mandolin, and vocals, Marcus Christian on drums and congas, and Vinnie Pulera on bass (and guitar too?)!
The most awesome thing is that they invited me to join them and sing a bunch of songs with them. I loved it - it was so much fun. I love to sing and they are so talented and it was a total honor that I got to sing with them for so many songs. I danced a lot and cheered them on too. They did an awesome job and hopefully I didn't cramp their style too much! Tee hee!
Anyway, if they choose to do another gig I want everyone to know that they rock and you'll love them! The best part is that all my life they've been playing music and letting me sing along, so it was very special that they let me jump in for some songs at their big gig. Thank you so much you guys! That was a sweet birthday present! They also sang Happy Birthday to me and gave me a cardboard birthday hat that I wore proudly for the last half of the night!
It was so wonderful to spend the night with so many people who matter so much to me - Steve, the Wallaces, the Christians, Vinnie, and a whole big Cheboygan crowd!
One other story that I wanted to share is that my big birthday gift from Amber and Marcus was that they asked me to be their son Noah's Godmother. He was christened in January when I very very sick and I couldn't be there, but I promise to be the best Godmother I can be for the rest of his life! Noah is 20 months old now and I don't get to see him or Cooper (4 years) as much as I would like, but they fill my heart with joy and happiness.
Thank you Amber and Marcus for such an honor and a gift. I am so proud to be his Godmother!
It's good to be getting out to see my friends again....and I am starting to return phone calls and make more plans. I can't wait to see and talk to everyone much more. I will have my bloodwork done later this week and then hopefully get to see the neurologist next week to talk about some of the issues that I have been having with the medication and some of the other not-so-fun stuff....will send an update when it's time....but I just wanted to share the positive things from this weekend in this email.... I don't know how I would do all this without all of you....you lift me up and make me laugh and sing and feel special....I love you all...Kate
